Chapter 2 “Earn Money?”
His actions drew everyone’s attention.
“He’s actually writing stuff.”
“Amazing! He’s actually writing stuff down. I could only write a single word when I looked at that problem. In terms of the number of words written down, he’s got me easily beat.”
“He’s just pretending, he couldn’t have prepared his own formulas. He’s just blindly writing stuff down.”
Li Xiuluo had long reached the limits of his patience, he was currently just waiting for Ye Lingchen to make a mistake so that he could lash out. However, as he continued to watch Ye Lingchen write lines upon lines on the blackboard, his entire being was stunned still, his mouth trembled, unable to say a single word.
Whoosh!
Throughout the entirety of the classroom, no noise could be heard besides the sound from Ye Lingchen writing on the blackboard.
Formula after formula appeared from Ye Lingchen’s single piece of chalk. Formulas from first-year high school all the way to third, using well-known sine rules to perfection, everything fitting in perfectly.
Such a solution, those who are trash at studies wouldn’t even be able to understand any part of it. The few geniuses in the class were looking at Ye Lingchen with eyes filled with shock and amazement. In the first place, the formulas he used were indeed able to bring one to the answer for the problem.
Fatty Zhang blankly stared at Ye Lingchen. Ye Lingchen’s entire body seemingly glowing and ethereal.
In the end, “d equals 2”, everything beautifully falling into place.
“He actually finished? Is the answer really 2?”
“WTF! Is that really the answer? Is the world about to end?”
“It can’t be… Was Ye Lingchen actually a true genius that was merely acting dumb?
“No wonder he always got 0s in his exams, it wasn’t just him having bad luck. Rather, he was actually intentionally getting them wrong!”
Everyone was shocked. Ye Lingchen’s performance caused a great disturbance in all of the student’s minds.
“Quiet!” Li Xiuluo glared at everyone, causing everyone to experience even greater pressure. He roared, “Don’t disturb Ye Lingchen’s solving of the problem!”
Didn’t he already answer it? Was he still not done? Everyone looked at the board to see Ye Lingchen having begun solving the problem once again, but using a different approach!
Using another approach to the problem, Ye Lingchen continued to swiftly write lines upon lines once again on the blackboard. This time faster than the last. Similarly, he ended up with “d equals 2”.
Throughout the period of time when Ye Lingchen was writing down his solutions using 2 different approaches, he had not put down the chalk in his hand at all. Now, he merely stood in front of the blackboard, as if he was contemplating something.
In the next moment, he started to once again write on the blackboard.
“A-a… A third approach?”
Li Xiuluo felt his breathing suddenly start increasing, the shock he was experiencing even greater than that of anyone in the entire class.
This problem could’ve been said to have incorporated all the difficult parts of high school mathematics. Someone would have to use certain parts of a great number of formulas, some of which wasn’t even a part of the high school syllabus. And yet, Ye Lingchen was here flexibly using the different formulas with such ease, even he as a teacher wouldn’t be able to do the same.
As he looked upon the third approach, Li Xiuluo’s pupils contracted, as if seeing an entirely new world. He couldn’t help but murmur, “Indeed, this problem could actually also be in solved this way.”
The third approach which Ye Lingchen used was to actually draw!
Simple and effective, through the drawing, one could intuitively see that the answer to the problem was 2.
“Genius, a true genius!
Li Xiuluo’s entire being was as if he had lost his soul. He even wanted to throw himself on the blackboard. He felt as if that Ye Lingchen was actually the teacher, and he the student.
“Sigh, the blackboard doesn’t have any more space for me to write on.” Ye Lingchen sighed softly as he placed the piece of chalk down.
“He has another approach for the problem?”
Many of the students couldn’t help but cry inside. For there to actually be such a perverted genius in this world, the heavens are truly unfair!
“Ye Lingchen’s solution process is perfect. The three approaches which he did on the board are beautiful. Everyone, copy them down and study hard.” Li Xiuluo praised Ye Lingchen, the menacing aura from before had been long replaced by one that was kind and comforting. “Truly worthy to be my student, you did well! In the future classes of mine, you no longer need to listen, I won’t bother you as long as you don’t affect the learning of the other students.”
As Ye Lingchen calmly returned to his seat under everyone’s attention, Fatty Zhang had long been shocked still, looking at Lingchen in an even more reverent way than before.
Ye Lingchen nonchalantly dusted his clothes as if he had only done something trivial. He switched his math textbook out for his English textbook and began to quickly flip through it.
He flipped through the pages so quickly that he didn’t even seem to be reading at all. However, when the other students saw him change expressions, again and again, they just ended up feeling that they’ve merely witnessed the difference between a god of learning and ordinary people.
‘Self-study an English textbook, English proficiency +1.’

…
Ring! Ring! (School Bell)
With the school bell finally signaling the end of the last class, everyone packed their stuff and left the classroom in an orderly manner.
Ye Lingchen asked, “Fatty Zhang, what do you think is the best way to earn money right now?”
“Earn money?” Fatty looked at Ye Lingchen in surprise. “We usually won’t be able to make money as we have to prepare for university. Are you in need of money? If you’re short on money, I can lend you some.”
“Tch, who set the rule that one can’t make money before going to university?” Ye Lingchen looked at fatty once again, “These days, ability is what people look for in a person. Just tell me, do you know what I can do to earn money?”
“You want to earn money?” Fatty Zhang’s forehead creased slightly, “Well yeah, I didn’t think that you’d be so good at learning, you wouldn’t really need to study anymore.”
After a slight pause, Fatty suddenly said, “Live streaming!”
“Live streaming?” Ye Lingchen got pulled deep into thought.
“Yes, live streaming! I heard that there are quite a number of streamers who are able to make over a million a year. Using the internet, they make tons of money!” Fatty said energetically with a bit of envy. “There are also some who write novels online, and if their novels become famous, they also earn tons of cash.”
Writing would need lots of preparation and can’t be rushed. Ye Lingchen immediately crossed it out. “How does that live streaming you were talking about work?”
Fatty said, “Since you aren’t a woman, you wouldn’t be able to exploit your sexuality, the best way for you to earn money through live streaming would be through gaming! You could play games like DOTA, LOL or some other game, the really well-off game streamers have millions of fans!”
“But since you’ve never played a game, this may be difficult to pull off,” Fatty casually added.
Ye Lingchen patted Fatty on the shoulder and said, “I know, thanks.”
The Gaokao was approaching. In order to help the students relax, the school didn’t force the students to go to school during the vacation time and just made them study by themselves at home. As for Ye Lingchen, he just went straight to the City’s Hospital of Traditional Medicine.
“Dad, are you busy today?” Ye Lingchen casually entered an office in the hospital and placed his bag on the desk.
Ye Jin fixed his glasses and said, “I have to operate on someone later tonight. You can just sit in my office and study by yourself while waiting.”
As expected, he’s got an operation tonight.
Ye Lingchen would pout his lips every time his father said the same exact words.
Ye Jin is a doctor in the Hospital of Traditional Medicine. He’d rush around the hospital every single day. It might be due to him knowing that he could only rarely accompany Ye Lingchen that he doesn’t blame Ye Lingchen for his achievements. As such, Ye Jin just lets Ye Lingchen study by himself after school.
Ye Lingchen pulled a chair so that he could take a seat. He didn’t take out any of his school textbooks, and looked around instead. Finally, he set his eyes on some thick fundamental medical books which were placed on top of the desk.
【Notes on the Compendium of Materia Medica 】, 【Notes on Qianjin Yaofang】, 【Fundamental Anatomy】.
He remembered hearing from his father that, every once in a while, the hospital gives out medical books to let people enrich their knowledge. As for whether or not those people even read them, the hospital doesn’t really know.
Ye Lingchen picked up a book and began reading through it.
‘Self-study 【Notes on the Compendium of Materia Medica 】, Chinese Medicine Proficiency +1.’
‘Self-study 【Notes on the Compendium of Materia Medica 】, Chinese Medicine Proficiency +1.’
‘Self-study 【Notes on the Compendium of Materia Medica 】, Chinese Medicine Proficiency +1.’
…
Lines upon lines emerged once again in Ye Lingchen’s mind, with new knowledge continually coming in. One of the dim boxes in Ye Lingchen’s mind then began to light up, and medical skills began to emerge in his mind, “10% proficiency and rising.”
After half an hour, Ye Jin got up and saw that Ye Lingchen was reading a medical book with slight interest. He sighed softly, “Stay here while I’m on duty. I’ve only got a minor operation to do today. I’ll be done in about two hours.”
Ye Lingchen nodded, his eyes not leaving the medical book in his hands. His eyebrows knitted together, as if he was contemplating something.
“Oh yeah, I’d like to prompt you for when you go back to reading that medical book, don’t just randomly try the stuff you see. Medical knowledge is always most important, If one isn’t able to understand or grasp the situation, then they shouldn’t even bother trying to solve the problem!” Ye Jin said solemnly.
He knew Ye Lingchen’s nature, after reading the book, he might suddenly try to cure someone even if his knowledge was lacking. If that were to happen, he would only be inviting a calamity to befall him.
‘Obtain a doctor’s guidance on medical ethics, Chinese Medicine Proficiency +10, Western Medicine Proficiency +10.’
Ye Lingchen’s impresson of his father greatly improved.
It wasn’t until Ye Jin left that Ye Lingchen was able to once again focus on the 【Notes on the Compendium of Materia Medica 】, but he found that his proficiency no longer increased.
Sure enough, there’s a limit to the amount of proficiency a single book can give him.
Ye Lingchen went into deep thought for a while, then started to read the 【Notes on Qianjin Yaofang】, only then did his proficiency begin to rise once again.
As he had expected, for the same kind of books, the amount of proficiency that would be given for each book on the same general topic would gradually reduce. After all, a book wouldn’t be able to cover all the content of a certain profession. As the proficiency for a certain profession rises, the number of books that would be able to improve his proficiency would also decrease. In the end, it seems like only through receiving the guidance of the masters of a profession would be able to help in raising the proficiency.
Ye Lingchen tried thinking of how to deal with such a situation, but his eyes fell on the computer on his father’s desk.
Live streaming… should I give it a try right now?
