Jaryuu Tensei Chapter 9

I’m sorry for the late release, I plan to lower the frequency of releases by one every other day, since translating has been eating into my sleeping time and my job involves physical labor, so I need my rest.

Chapter 9: I’m only kinda strong

After the bipedal six bear let out a ferocious roar, it kicked the floor.

It’s body which is bigger than 2 meters, cut through the air, and in an instant, came before me.

Like a right hook, the six bear’s nails slashed towards me from the side.

The troublesome part is that it’s using all three of it’s arms simultaneously.

Since it couldn’t be helped, I did a back step and took some distance.

The six bear splendidly hit the empty air.

Even then, it fixed it’s stance and started doing the same thing again.

I kicked up the dirt on the ground and blocked its vision.

Since that guy’s vision is gone he made a bunch of openings.

I pointed the blade upwards and without any hesitation slashed downwards.

It cut through the three arms, making them fall at the same time.

It’s a pain that would normally make someone faint in agony, but the six bear is a wild magic beast so it just let out a ferocious howl.

Not minding the pain, the six bear made a shoulder tackle just like a rugby player.

Without using my arms I cartwheeled, and avoided the attack.

The six bear that hurled itself at empty air, fell over.

While staggering it stood up.

Although there was red liquid gushing out of the amputated part, the fighting spirit within it’s eyes did not weaken.

Okay~, since I’ve already established that I can move my body properly, let’s stop playing around.

At the six bear glaring this way, I threw my sword.

No matter how prepared you are, if someone did something like that, your line of sight would obviously chase after it, that’s just the nature of living things.

That’s a fatal mistake though.

The six bear’s gray colored pupils shrunk and then they looked downwards.

That was because near his chest was me.

The me who suddenly got close, if this was chess this would be called a check.

After that would just be me finishing him off but—–.

With my previous move I threw away my sword.

What to do in this situation—- that should be obvious.

An uppercut.

My fist bore through his skin, smashed through his flesh, and broke through his bones.

Like a grenade exploding, the six bear’s head was destroyed.

The meat showily scattered all over the other people.

The large body that has lost it’s head, slowly sank to the ground.

With the other hand that I didn’t use, I caught the sword that just fell down.

In the sky clouds that looked like cotton candy were swimming around.

While looking at that I let out a long breath.

If  I compare it to the time when I was a dragon, I could feel some inconveniences.

Well, this in itself isn’t bad too.

My body is light, and I can move the way I imagine too as well.

I even have the muscles to take out a bear’s head in one punch after all.

With this, I can probably protect, at the very least my own body—oh?

Wait a minute.

Since I defeated that magic beast in a pretty cool way, isn’t it to quiet?

An applause or some words of praise would have been good though.

Anyone and everyone only has there mouths hanging open, do you want some candy or something?

“A,as expected of Ja, to think you even had a sword skill…”

“It’s not like I had any though. I only copied the way you adventurers do it. Since I was able to do it right, then that’s good.”

Of the adventurers that came for the evil dragon extermination, most of them were swordsmen after all.

It was interesting, if you look closely, they all had different ways of using the sword.

With my enhanced kinetic vision and memory, after seeing their movements once or twice, I won’t forget it anymore.

That’s how it became useful right now.

Well, the last one was a boxer’s uppercut though.

After a short while, cheers rose up.

It seems that they were only surprised at my fighting style that was different from the orthodox fighting methods.

A number of the rich people’s guards approached me.

“That was amazing. Someone of your caliber probably has no one who can employ you.”

“It was very superb. That sword skill and body, are probably the results of diligent training.”

“What’s your name? And also do you have any wounds? If you have any, I wouldn’t mind fixing them up for you, but….”

The amazing point is that most of the ones that approached were women.

Is this because of the handsome correction?

Or is it that this women only like strong men?

This isn’t a bad feeling.

It’s not but… the gazes of the other guards hurt, they hurt.

The gap because of the fact that i’m the only popular(curse) one, can be clearly seen, but… I don’t really care about other men’s jealousy.

In the first place, since you guys wouldn’t fight, I had to do it instead.

“I don’t really train or anything though, but I can still do those things.”

“Eh, is that even possible!?”

“It might be a natural disposition of his.”

“Hmm… then, you, what’s your name?”
“If you guys get too familiar with him, I’ll be troubled. He’s my comrade after all.”

Putting emphasis on the word ‘comrade’ Chloe drove them away.

Even though I wanted to be fawned over more.

When I was about to voice my complaints, the village chief, with a face full of smiles, approached.

“Thank you very much. About the matter with the inn, we’ll make room, so please, by all means, stay in this town. You should also try joining the auction, of course, the participation fee will be waived.”

It seems this old man really knows how to read the mood.

I don’t mind at all that kind of returning a favour.

I’ll gratefully intrude on your hospitality.

When I went back to the village I was approached by various nobility and rich merchants.

They apparently wanted to employ me as a guard.

They wanted to offer me a wage and various other perks, but for the time being I refused them all.

After all, if I agreed, wouldn’t I have to follow their orders?

What’s the difference between that and being a salaryman?

In the first place, I don’t have the slightest idea about this world’s currency.

I thought that was bad so I asked Chloe-sensei to explain.

This region’s currency was called rize, and with around 100 rize you can buy one piece of bread, the city people’s monthly salary is around 100k to 200k rize, it seems.

Of course depending on the job that changes.

It helps that it didn’t seem that hard to think of it in yen.

But, it seems the rich guys from before, seemed to be offering quite a large amount of money just to recruit me.

Most of them were offering 1million a month.

In the middle there wa even some old guy who offered 2million.

“It’s because being a guard has many dangers. Since dying from dungeons, ruins, and magic beasts happen often.”

So refusing was the right choice after all.

Dying for a superior that you can’t respect is the worst kind of death.

After learning a bunch of different things from Chloe, before we noticed it was already night.

“Ja-sama, Chloe-sama, we prepared special seats, please follow me.”

It seems that the slave auction is about to start.

I don’t have money, but let’s take a look.
